The four songs on the ”Lights”EP are an appendix to The Late Call's recent album ”Golden”.
Originally recorded for that LP, but then with a heavy heart left out of the album's final tracklist,
the two new songs ”Lights” and ”Time for talking” are precious bonus tracks that are now finally
”Lights” was written for the “Golden”sessions that took place in October 2014. On the back of
the characteristic pounding drumbeat and the immediate captivating chorus, the song parallels
what might have been with the present and describes the challenges of life and of never giving up.
”Time for talking” (also recorded for the ”Golden”sessions) is an 11-yearold gem from the
songsmithery of Johannes Mayer, hailing from a period before his debut album ”Leaving Notes”
(2009). Its melody is just as captivating now as it was back then displaying the consistency and
strength in his song writing.
These songs are complemented with previously unreleased demoversions of the album's title track
”Golden” and the last single ”The Pact”. Recorded in Johannes' home studio in Stockholm, the
two demos give a glimpse of the creative process from sketch to finalised albumversion. And as
often with demos, the recordings exude an immediacy in expression that is often only captured on
the first take. Just listen carefully...
